About 22,000 e-bikes sold online by Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Overstock, and Sears (among other retailers) have been recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced last week. The e-bikes’ manufacturer, Ancheer, said it was issuing the voluntary recall because “the lithium-ion batteries may, in some circumstances, ignite, explode or spark, posing fire, explosion and burn hazards to consumers.”

Which bikes are being recalled?

The recall affects Ancheer e-bikes with the model AM001907: So far, the company has received six report of incidents involving fire, explosions, or sparks from riders, according to the U.S. CPSC. Four of these incidents involved burn injuries.

The model of the bike can be found on the packaging and the instruction manual but will not be on the bike itself. One way to know you have the recalled model is that the cylindrical battery resembles a water bottle right above the “Ancheer” white font logo on the frame of the bike. The bike also has 26-inch wheels.

The recalled bikes were sold on the following websites between January 2016 to June 2022 for between $280 and $930: aliexpress.com, ancheer.shop, amazon.com, ebaby.com, newegg.com, overstock.com, rakuten.com, sears.com, walmart.com and wish.com.

What to do

You can also contact the company by email at [email protected] or online at or ancheer.shop, and click on “Recalls” at the top of the page for more information. The U.S. CPSC recommends riders not use the e-bikes until they are given a free replacement battery and battery mount.
