Seeing your favorite store close is always a blow, and the current economic uncertainty we are facing is seeing many of our favorite companies close some locations, tighten their belts, and brace for what’s to come. Many have already filed for bankruptcy; the silver-lining for us, though, are the liquidation sales that come with it.

The following are some businesses that are closing some doors and others that will be closing completely. Most of these will have official liquidation sale dates, but some you will have to call your local store to get specific details.

Tuesday Morning

The discount home goods retailer will be closing all of its remaining 222 stores sometime around June after they filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and closed 265 stores. They announced their decision on April 29 via Facebook. You can find all of their closing locations here.

Foot Locker

The shoe and clothing store will be closing 420 of their 1,300 mall stores in the United States by 2026. A report from Retail Dive says “200 locations in C and D malls and 200 underperforming stores in A and B malls.” To know if one of these 420 locations is your local store, give them a call and ask. You can find all the Foot Locker locations and their phone numbers here.

Bed Bath & Beyond

Probably the most well-known store closing at the moment is Bed Bath & Beyond. All remaining 360 stores are in the process of closing after filing for bankruptcy. All of their locations are holding liquidation sales until their June 30 date to permanently close. You can find their locations here.

Champs Sports

Champs Sports, a sports retail store, is suffering the same struggles as its parent company Foot Locker. They are closing 125 of their underperforming stores, which is about a fourth of all stores, before the end of 2023. You can find all of Champs Sports locations here.

buybuy Baby

buybuyBaby is owned by Bed Bath & Beyond, and it is taking the infant and youth apparel store down with them. All 122 of their stores in 37 states are closing, and you can find a list of all of stores holding liquidation sales here (look for “bbB” on the left column). They have the same Bed Bath & Beyond closing deadline of June 30.

Bath & Body Works

The home fragrance, gifts, body, and bath retail store is closing 50 mall stores this year in these states: Alabama (1 location), Arizona (2), California (6), Florida (1), Georgia (2), Idaho (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (2), Missouri (1), Mississippi (1), New Jersey (1), New York (7), Ohio (1), Pennsylvania (2), Texas (2), Virginia (1), and Washington (4). You can find the list with all of their closing locations here.

Harmon

Another Bed Bath & Beyond’s subsidiary also going under is the health and beauty retailer, Harmon. All of their remaining 50 stores will close by June 30. You can find a list of all of their closing locations at the bottom of this PDF.

Party City

Party City is only closing about 4% of their 823 locations this year after they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which comes to about 30 stores. You can find all of their closing locations here.

Christmas Tree Shops

Christmas Tree Shops, which sells food, toys, household furnishings, and Christmas decorations at bargains, is closing 10 of their underperforming 82 stores, according to the Wall Street Journal. You can find their full list of closing stores here.
